What is Happy Wheels?
Happy Wheels is a side-scrolling action game built on ragdoll physics, first released in 2010 by Total Jerkface and Fancy Force, designed by Jim Bonacci. It was one of the earliest browser games to make wild, breakable ragdoll bodies the central mechanic rather than a gimmick. Each character is a regular person on some impractical vehicle, and the comedy comes from watching them get torn apart by the course. The goal shifts from level to level: sometimes you race to the exit, sometimes you collect tokens, and some levels have no point at all beyond the chaos itself.
How to play Happy Wheels
You control your character with the arrow keys to move and lean, which matters a lot when your vehicle is something as tippy as a jet-powered wheelchair. Spacebar handles your character's primary action, which is usually a jump or a special move, and Ctrl or Shift trigger secondary actions like ejecting from your vehicle. Leaning is the skill that separates a clean run from a pile of limbs, since keeping your balance over ramps and gaps is often harder than the obstacles themselves. Happy Wheels characters
Part of the fun is that nobody in Happy Wheels has superpowers, they just have a terrible vehicle and a unique quirk. The original four are Wheelchair Guy, an older man in a jet-powered wheelchair who can turbo-boost his thrusters, Segway Guy, a more manageable pick who can hop, Irresponsible Dad, who carries his kid on the back of his bike, and Effective Shopper on a mobility scooter. Over the years more characters joined, including Moped Couple, Lawnmower Man, Explorer Guy, Santa Claus, Pogo Stick Man, Irresponsible Mom and Helicopter Man. Each one handles differently, so the same level can feel like a new challenge depending on who you bring.
